Allman boatworks began with Roy Allman in the 1970's
Moving to Muskoka, he wanted to start working at something that he could do with his whole family. His love for craftsmanship and the water combined with a love of the outdoors taking the form of Roy Allman Canoes. After some experiments in furniture making and other woodworking enterprises, they eventually expanded into classic wooden boats and restoration which now makes up the bulk of the work.
40+ years and 2 generations later, Roy's grandson, Quinn Allman, works alongside his father Don to continue the family business, collaborating to restore wooden boats and canoes and bringing joy to their customers.
Allman Boatworks continues a tradition of boatbuilding passed down through three generations of woodworkers in Muskoka. Knowledge from the esteemed boatbuilders like Ditchburn, Port Carling Boatworks, Duke, Greavette and Minett has been shared in the region's workshops, shaping Allman Boatwork's legacy of skill and expertise. Muskoka stands out as a hub for preserving the timeless artistry of boatbuilding.
A father and son team, there's always an Allman working on your boat; you always receive the personal attention and the passion that comes with a family tradition.
Our story begins with building canoes and furniture. The skills and attention to detail that made the canoes successful refined our skills in preparation for what we do today.
